TRUE TRANSFORMERS -
The financial service industry will become data-driven and algorithmic. This does not mean that the future of finance will be shaped primarily by artificially intelligent robo-advisors, but by open networks of traditional and new providers working together to develop solutions for customers. Such ecosystems require an adaptation of the banking system architecture in which non-competitive basic services and regulatory processes are outsourced to a centralized platform.
However, setting a clear direction is crucial, as a technology platform is not sufficient in itself and digital solutions are only a means to an end. Sustainable innovation requires a focus on the future needs of customers and society. Considering tomorrow's economic and societal challenges, the repositioning of banks may bring them closer to their original role: enabling progress as transformers that facilitate individuals, companies, and society to move forward.
The basis for this is a strengthening of values that link market-driven ambitions with social responsibility. This includes building partnerships with technology providers and new partners in overarching networks, leading them to ultimately focus on security or holistic advisory — and thus a differentiated international positioning.
